This is a portrait of Brooklyn that I was asked to create in her memory. It was an honour to be trusted with this commission, and I hope it brings some comfort in this time of grief.

When working on an animal of a “single colour”, you really have to play up the values; focus on getting your darks dark enough and your lights light enough. This will really make the portrait pop and give it a sense of three dimensionality. Portrait drawn on drafting film.

Look into those eyes…have you gotten lost in them? I have. I always end up feeling a connection with the fur babies I draw. I get to spend so much time staring into the photos, finding all of the characteristics that make each fur baby unique unto themselves, I can’t help but fall in love…
