This is Poppy, a Newfoundland Pony. She is one of about 500 that remain today as the Newfoundland Pony is a critically endangered species. The majority of them are located in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Ontario, and this beauty is just a hop, skip and a jump from my home.

Again using Pastelmat, which with just a few finished pieces of art has become a fast favourite for me. Love the velvelty surface and the ability to get so many layers. I find for flowers especially, using mineral spirits to “paint” with my coloured pencils is such an incredible experience, I am falling in love…
